The Asphalt Road detector is a specially designed strain detector that is adapted for installation in upper layers of the asphalt and under the roads so the detector flexes due to strain along any point of its length. This fiber optic road traffic sensor uses the state of the art FBG technology with a unique mechanical design and superior sensitivity which enables it to recognize passing vehicles.
100% passive detector
Since the road traffic sensor does not need the power supply, it easily monitors places without access to the power and hazardous or inaccessible areas.
The FBG vehicle detection system provides excellent sensitivity along its entire length to ensure a balanced response to a whole traffic lane.
Special road sensor design with a minimal footprint enables direct and fast installation in asphalt infrastructure or under the roads.
Protected as IP68 rated devices
The protection is comparable to the international standard rating of IP68 and guarantees complete dust tightness and protection against the effects of long periods of immersion in water.
The vehicle detection sensor can be used alone or incorporated into a larger detection network to minimize the cabling costs.

Immune to EMI/RFI
The road sensor enables operation even in harsh environments and hazardous areas. The advantage is immunity to electromagnetic/radio frequency interference.
The vehicle detection system can also be used in combination with other detectors, such as the flooding or manhole detectors and other sensors, such as strain, temperature, pressure, etc.
The road traffic sensor’s sensitive length can be customized to match the road or lane width.
