The Embedded strain sensor is a fiber optic strain sensor which detects strain changes between its anchoring points with microstrain precision. The fiber is fixed inside a ruggedized housing that can be directly embedded into the concrete structures. Furthermore it has a connector at both ends which makes the configuration in series possible.
100% passive sensor
The sensor does not require any power, and hence can be used for monitoring areas without any power, as well as hazardous or inaccessible areas.
Monitoring of tension and compression
The sensor is pre-strained enabling monitoring of tension and compression of any structure at the same time.
Universal platform
Together with the strain sensor you can also use other sensors (temperature, inclination, vibration, displacement, etc.).
Protected as IP68 rated devices
The IP68 rating guarantees complete dust tightness and protection against the effects of long immersions in water.
Immune to EMI/RFI
The sensor enables operation in harsh environments and hazardous areas.,The advantage is its immunity to electromagnetic/radio frequency interference.
Leverage the existing fiber optic network
Standard telecommunication optical fibers, for example, dark fibers, can connect the unit and sensors. This is very economical even for a large number of monitored points.
Connectivity
The sensor can be used alone or incorporated into a large sensing network.
Low installation costs
Installation and cabling for such sensor networks are much less expensive and less cumbersome than comparable electronic gauge networks.
Optional accessories
The strain sensor can be delivered with optional accessories, such as a sensor protective cover, customized mounting anchors, connectors, and many others.
Usage with temperature sensor recommended
When temperature variations are expected, a temperature sensor is recommended for compensations.
